GSP Group is currently
finalizing the preparation of a Streetscape Plan for the
core area of Hagersville in Haldimand County. Building on
the County-level streetscape direction, the Hagersville
Streetscape Plan
is intended to
identify specific recommendations and action items for
carrying out improvements to the streetscapes and public
spaces in Hagersville’s core, principally in the interest of
enhancing the pedestrian experience and assisting with the
overall revitalization efforts to the area. Following a
comprehensive workshop session with property owners,
business owners, residents, and other interested
stakeholders, GSP Group developed an improvement strategy
for the key streetscapes and public spaces within the area.
This included making enhancements to the principal corridors
(King Street and Main Street) that will soften and green
these streets; strengthening the intersection of these two
streets through unique surface markings reflecting the
historic “Plank Road” through the core; and transforming the
existing market square into a vibrant, multi-functional, and
interesting space that can accommodate various activities
throughout the year. The final Hagersville Streetscape Plan
is expected to be presented to County Council for adoption
in Spring 2011.
