With 20 hectares of land available, GSP Group was contracted to develop a master plan for Williamsburg Cemetery. The team developed a phased master plan identifying a variety of interment and memorialization options for the entire property. As the master plan was implemented, GSP Group designed and administered the installation of cremation gardens, entry features and a naturalized wetland.
Williamsburg Cemetery is home to Canada’s first green burial area, Sanctuary Woods, also designed by GSP Group and established in 2002. In addition to its purpose as a cemetery, Williamsburg has become a destination for weddings, community trails and wetland preservation.
