Hamilton Residential Intensification Guide

The Hamilton Residential Intensification Guide explains the City’s general thought process when evaluating residential intensification proposals and identified common methods and techniques for mitigating any potential impacts that residential intensification may have within a particular neighbourhood or the surrounding area.

As part of the guide, GSP Group prepared detailed site design concepts for five different demonstration sites throughout the City (downtown, street corridors, community nodes, established neighbourhoods, and non-residential sites) that showed a range of building types and forms (mixed-use development, live-work units, townhouses, low/mid/high rise).  Supporting these concepts, GSP Group prepared detailed 3D modeling that illustrates the design principles and techniques discussed in the guide and shows how “appropriate intensification” could be achieved within particular areas of the City.
