Valerie Schmidt has over 11 years of land use planning experience in private and municipal practices, most recently with the Township of Centre Wellington where she was responsible for commenting on severances and minor variance applications, site plans, preparing planning reports and assisting with public inquires. Prior to that, she was a private sector planning lead for a development company who held landholdings within and outside the Waterloo Region. She was responsible for managing draft plan of subdivision applications from submission to final registration, in addition to preparing zone change, consent, draft plan modification and minor variance applications. She also assisted with due diligence, feasibility and research for potential land acquisitions. In her role at the City of Kitchener, she assisted in the development of urban design briefs for power centre developments as part of the Urban Design Manual.
When she isn’t planning for land use, she’s trampling all over it as an Ultimate Frisbee competitor, tackling her first half marathon, golfing, and balancing that with yoga and meditation.
