Brenda Khes is a Senior Associate at GSP Group’s Hamilton Office with over 30 years of land use planning experience in both the public and private sectors. She has extensive experience in urban redevelopment, secondary planning, management and coordinating land development projects and securing development approvals on a wide range of projects.
Brenda has led large teams on several public sector projects in Hamilton including the Barton-Tiffany Urban Design Guidelines, Pan Am Stadium Community Plan and McMaster Innovation Park Secondary Plan to name a few, as well as a number of initiatives associated with surplus school sites and Infrastructure Ontario. Brenda was also the project lead in the preparation of the City of Welland’s new draft Comprehensive Zoning by-law.
On the private side, she has assisted clients in the review of the development potential of surplus properties and led them through the full range of planning approvals from Committee of Adjustment applications to official plan and zoning by-law amendments, plans of subdivision and condominium, and site plan approval. Her development solutions lead to overall neighbourhood improvements based on sound urban design concepts and guidelines.
These projects provide Brenda with a strong understanding of: provincial, regional and local policies; the importance of local markets; and the need for productive public and stakeholder involvement throughout all processes.
Brenda is actively involved in the community as a member of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, the Hamilton Halton Home Builders’ Association, the Mohawk College Urban and Regional Planning GIS Program Advisory Committee, the OPPI Western Lake Advisory District Executive Team, and the Greater Hamilton Professional Planners Advisory Group.
