A Planner at GSP Group, Patrick has a unique background in both planning and the English language. His doctoral dissertation at the University of Western Ontario examined cultural responses to technological innovations in early twentieth-century urban environments. This experience with interpreting documents and exploring their broader social and cultural ramifications has translated to a strength for policy analysis, complementing his sound understanding of provincial policy and planning. Patrick uses his exceptional written and oral communication skills to produce clear, high-quality written material and to deliver presentations or consultations in an engaging and confident manner.
While working with the City of Barrie’s Planning Department, Patrick assumed a leading role in gathering and evaluating grant applications for the City’s Built Boundary Community Improvement Project (CIP), which included organizing public open houses as support sessions for interested applicants. He assisted Planning staff with a variety of projects, including the development of background papers for the City’s Sustainability Strategy, the drafting of Committee of Adjustment reports, and the editing and formatting of the Annual CIP Report. Patrick also drafted content for the Planning Department’s website in order to more effectively explain the planning process for a general audience.
