Sydney Bailey

Planner / Urban Designer

Sydney has three years of experience as a planner and urban designer in the private sector. Her research has involved infill development opportunities including a study to rejuvenate the former General Motors lands in St. Catharines. She also assisted with design of a dementia care center for Pioneer Elder Care in St. Catharines modeled after Hogewey Village in the Netherlands – a self-contained village facility designed in 1950’s-60’s style as an alternative to hospital facilities.

As a planning consultant, Sydney prepares land use planning and development applications, Urban Design and CPTED reviews, Planning Justification Reports and assists with parks and recreation master plans through the consultation process. Her work experience, paired with her urban design studies at the University of Newcastle (UK) with a focus on public space design and placemaking gives Sydney a forward-thinking perspective about community planning and development projects.
