Karen Shlemkevich
Project Description
Having previously worked in healthcare, Karen’s diverse experience provides her with a unique understanding of designing spaces for people with physical and cognitive challenges. Her most recent article, “Landscapes for Long Term Care,” was published in the Spring 2020 edition of OALA’s Ground Magazine and reflects her passion for the design of health-care spaces.
Karen holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Arts from Mercer University in Georgia. She has extensive knowledge of the design of green roofs and living walls, as she has completed numerous courses through Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. In addition, she holds a volunteer position on the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects’ new Committee on Human Health and Well-Being.
