Stuart Hastings
Project Description
A Planner at GSP Group’s Hamilton office, Stuart started out as a GIS Technician in the Engineering Department at the City of Burlington. He then crossed the country to join the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, where he contributed to the development of various Area Structure Plans and led the Commercial-Industrial Land Use Study. He also led public engagement sessions in Fort McMurray, as well as in its remote surrounding hamlets and with First Nations communities.
In 2013, Stuart was seconded to Kuwait Municipality to provide land-use planning services for the Master Planning Department. He also contributed to a plan, known as the Plan for the Northern Gateway Sub-Region, to build a new city in the north of that country. In addition to having lived in Kuwait, Stuart has traveled to over 50 countries and brings an international perspective to his work. Stuart holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies (Honours, Planning) from the University of Waterloo.
