The City of Brampton initiated a Downtown Streetscape Study to create a shared vision and design for Queen Street (from Elizabeth to Chapel streets) and Main Street (from Wellington to Nelson streets). GSP Group and MTE Consultants undertook the Class EA Study for these improvements, including utility replacements.
The preferred design removes on-street parking and devotes more space to pedestrians and cyclists. It features a widened pedestrian clearway and cafe zone, an area for trees and furniture, and a raised cycling lane.
Rolled curbs will be used throughout with unit pavers to provide a flexible streets space that can easily be closed to vehicles and converted to market and event space.
